About Roary
Roary is a Nashville-based musician known for his unique sound that blends organic, synthetic, and sampled textures to create atmospheric, energetic, purposeful, and deeply moving music. Roary's musical journey began in a small town in Colorado, where he grew up playing music in everything from marching band, jazz band, and even a local ska band. In college he discovered how to make music on his laptop and has been hooked on the idea of using a computer as an instrument ever since.
In 2011, Roary moved to Nashville and began working as a touring keys player for hire. During his time on the road, he spent his days creating music in the backs of tour buses, concert venues, and cramped 15-passenger vans. In 2014, after the birth of his first daughter, Roary left the touring scene and devoted himself to building a catalog of original music in the studio. During this time, he worked nights and weekends as an Uber driver, carpenter, bartender, and videographer. Pretty much any side gig that could make ends meet and support his family.
In 2017, he made the leap and began making music full-time. He has established himself as a unique presence in the Nashville music scene and online instrumental community and has had work featured by major brands such as Apple, Nike, Bentley, Lincoln Motor Company, National Geographic, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Delta Airlines, and others.
In addition to working on his own largely instrumental discography, Roary has also been an active collaborator for a variety of other artists, including Young Summer, Andrew Belle, Fleurie, Katie Herzig, Unsecret, ADONA, Sam Tinnesz, Ruelle, The Light the Heat, and Matthew Perryman Jones. Throughout his career, Roary has received numerous accolades, including an AMA award for his work on the 2020 Major Motion Picture Soundtrack "Birds of Prey".
Roary continues to explore the idea of what it means to create music that has a soul and tells a story.
